Menzo Weddings provides wedding DJ and MC services in Ann Arbor and across Washtenaw County. Ann Arbor is where Menzo Media started, in January 2015, and it's still home base for us, along with Detroit. Founder Dave Menzo has been performing since 2001 and has played Michigan weddings for more than a decade. Three of the weddings he's played are a short drive from downtown: a farm in Dexter, a golf club on the edge of town, and a 150-acre property outside Chelsea.

Most couples start with the wedding DJ and MC for the reception. That's the core booking, and plenty of couples book nothing else. If you want live music too, you add it: live ceremony music under the trees, a cocktail-hour set while your guests find a drink, or live drums, guitar, sax or violin on top of the DJ set once the room is ready for it. Whatever you add runs from the same plan.

Weddings we've played around Ann Arbor

Katie and Dennis at Revel Run, Chelsea

Dave played Katie and Dennis's wedding at Revel Run on Sunday, September 6, 2026, with a 4 pm ceremony. Revel Run opened in 2024 on 150 acres outside Chelsea, with The Overlook hall, wide lawns and a pond where the two of them took their portraits. Rachel Mercer Photography shot the day, including the photograph at the top of this page. There's more on Katie and Dennis's wedding page.

Brian and Yu-ju at Zingerman's Cornman Farms, Dexter

In 2018 Dave sang through Brian and Yu-ju's cocktail hour at Zingerman's Cornman Farms, then DJ'd their reception. It was a snowy day, and the ceremony was held inside the barn under red paper lanterns. The Bigger Picture Photography wrote the day up on their blog and named Dave as the DJ.

Their toasts were given with a live interpreter. That's the kind of detail worth knowing early, because it changes how long the toasts run, where the microphone goes and how the MC introduces each speaker. If your families speak more than one language, tell us while we plan.

Kelly and Shannon at Stonebridge Golf Club, Ann Arbor

Dave played Kelly and Shannon's wedding at Stonebridge Golf Club in the fall of 2022. They ended the night with a sparkler exit, the send-off you can see in the photographs above. A sparkler exit is a moment the MC sets up: the last song, the announcement that sends guests outside to line the path, and the cue to the photographer.

Ann Arbor wedding venues Dave has played

  • Revel Run, Chelsea: 150 acres with The Overlook hall, a pond and wide lawns, so the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception can each have their own spot.
  • Zingerman's Cornman Farms, Dexter: a farm with a red barn and a white farmhouse, where Dave sang at cocktail hour and DJ'd the reception.
  • Stonebridge Golf Club, Ann Arbor: a golf club wedding with a sparkler send-off at the end of the night.

If your venue isn't on this list, tell us where you're getting married when you check your date, and we'll go through what we need to know about the space while we plan. If you're looking a little further out, Holly, Williamston and Owosso are on our Lansing page, and the Masonic Temple, Grosse Pointe and Livonia are on the Detroit page. The full list is on our venues page.

What's different about an Ann Arbor wedding?

Michigan football Saturdays

If your date is a fall Saturday, look at the University of Michigan home schedule before you sign anything else. Michigan Stadium holds more than 100,000 people. On a home game day, hotel rooms in town go fast, and the roads around the stadium slow down for hours before and after the game. Kickoff times are often set only a week or two ahead, so a 4 pm ceremony can end up sharing the afternoon with a game you didn't plan for.

None of that rules out a game-day wedding. It means booking your hotel block early, telling your guests on your wedding website, and building some slack into the timeline. On the night, we can keep the room posted on the score, or not mention it at all. And if half your guests are in maize and blue, "The Victors" at the right moment will get the whole room on its feet. Your call.

Farms and barns out in Washtenaw County

A lot of Ann Arbor weddings happen out in the county: Chelsea, Dexter, Saline, Manchester. Farm venues give you space, views and choices. They also put more distance between where you say your vows and where you dance. At a big property, the ceremony site, the cocktail lawn and the reception hall can be a walk apart, and guests need a reason to move from one to the next. Music gives them that reason.

When the ceremony and cocktail hour are added to your DJ booking, the music follows a single timeline, and you have one plan instead of three. The processional, the walk to cocktails and the grand entrance all come from the same conversation.

Barns, wood and sound

Barns sound different from ballrooms. Wood and high rafters make a room lively, so toasts need a clear microphone and dinner music should sit low enough that people can talk across the table. Out on a lawn, it's the opposite: open air swallows sound, so a ceremony works best with guests gathered close. Send us photos or a floor plan of your venue early, and tell us where each part of the day happens.

Art Fair, graduation and other busy weekends

The Ann Arbor Art Fair fills downtown for several days each July, and University of Michigan commencement in the spring fills hotels across the area. Neither is a reason to avoid a date. Both are worth knowing about before you book rooms and send save-the-dates.

Fall color, and cool evenings

October around Ann Arbor brings the color, and the evenings cool off quickly once the sun goes down. If your ceremony is outside, have an indoor plan and tell us about it, so the ceremony music works in either place.

What can you book for an Ann Arbor wedding?

The wedding DJ and MC is the core booking. Ceremony music, a cocktail-hour set and DJ plus live music are add-ons to it. A live band package can have a DJ too, playing between sets and closing out the night, so you don't have to choose one or the other.

Wedding DJ and MC

Dinner music that lets people talk, then a dance floor that builds over the night. We plan the songs with you, keep your do-not-play list close, and read the room as the night goes. On the microphone, the grand entrance, toasts, cake and last dance are announced clearly and kept on time, with every name said the way your family says it. See wedding MC, or read what a wedding MC does.

Live ceremony music

Acoustic guitar and vocals, or piano, for your prelude, processional, signing and recessional. We pick the songs together, and we arrange your processional so the part of the song you love lands as you start down the aisle. Outdoor ceremonies on a farm lawn or under old trees suit acoustic music well. More on live ceremony music, and ideas in our acoustic ceremony songs guide.

Cocktail hour

While you take photos, your guests get a live acoustic set: songs they know, played softly enough to talk over. It's what Dave did for Brian and Yu-ju at Cornman Farms. See cocktail hour music and our cocktail hour music guide.

DJ plus live music

Live musicians on top of the DJ set, in any combination of drums, guitar, sax and violin, at the moments you choose. It gives the dance floor the feel of a band while keeping every song in its original recording, and because it's built on your DJ booking, it all runs from one plan. See DJ plus live music.

Live wedding band

If you want a full band on stage for the reception, that's an option too, and a band package can have a DJ playing between sets and closing out the night. Not sure which mix to go for? Our DJ, live band or both guide walks through it, and the live wedding band page has the details.

What does a wedding DJ cost in Ann Arbor?

It depends on how many hours you need, whether you add live music, and what your venue needs. We don't publish prices, because every quote is built around your day. Our Michigan wedding DJ cost guide explains what drives the price, and if you check your date we'll send you a quote for yours.

Common questions

Can you play our wedding on a Michigan football Saturday?

Yes, if your date is open. The game doesn't stop us playing, but it does affect your guests: hotels fill up and roads near the stadium slow down for hours. Once the home schedule is out, check it against your date, book your hotel block early, and leave some slack in the timeline. We'll help you set the ceremony start and grand entrance around it. Check your date to see if it's open.

Has Menzo Weddings played Zingerman's Cornman Farms in Dexter?

Yes. In 2018 Dave sang through Brian and Yu-ju's cocktail hour at Cornman Farms, then DJ'd their reception. The Bigger Picture Photography wrote up the day and named him as their DJ. See Brian and Yu-ju's wedding and the Cornman Farms page.

Can we have live songs at cocktail hour and a DJ for the reception?

Yes. It's what Dave did at Cornman Farms: acoustic songs while guests mingled, then the DJ booth for the reception. Start with the wedding DJ and MC and add a cocktail-hour set. If you want live musicians on the dance floor too, that's DJ plus live music.

Are you actually based in Ann Arbor?

Yes. Menzo Media started in Ann Arbor in January 2015, and Ann Arbor and Detroit are home base. Chelsea, Dexter and Saline are all a short drive.

Can we add live ceremony music to our DJ booking?

Yes. Live ceremony music, on acoustic guitar and vocals or piano, is added to your Wedding DJ and MC booking, so the ceremony and the reception run from the same plan.

We're getting married on a farm. Can the music move with us from the ceremony to the reception?

Yes. Book the DJ and MC, add the ceremony and cocktail hour, and it all runs from one plan. Tell us where each part of the day happens, and we'll plan the music around the walk between them. The details depend on your venue, so we'll go through them with you and your coordinator while we plan.
