Menzo Weddings provides wedding DJ and MC services across Lansing and mid-Michigan. Founder Dave Menzo is a Michigan State alum, so Lansing and East Lansing aren't new ground. The mid-Michigan weddings he's played cover a wide circle around the capital: a golf club in Williamston, a greenhouse and garden venue in Owosso, and a newer venue in Holly, out toward Flint. He's been performing since 2001 and has played Michigan weddings for more than a decade.
For a Lansing-area wedding, most couples start with the wedding DJ and MC for the reception. That's the core booking. If you want live music too, you add it: live acoustic music for your ceremony, a cocktail-hour set, or live drums, guitar, sax or violin on top of the DJ set when the room is ready.

Weddings we've played around Lansing
Heather and Tyler at Everlastings in the Wildwood, Owosso, summer 2026
Dave DJ'd Heather and Tyler's wedding at Everlastings in the Wildwood in the summer of 2026, and Simply Shalyn Photography credited Menzo Media as the DJ. The ceremony was in the garden and the dancing was under a tent. Two moments from that night: the whole family took over the dance floor for the Monster Mash, and Tyler sang Heather a song he wrote for her. No playlist can do that second one, but a good plan leaves room for it.

Tom and Ellen at The Oakley, Holly, August 2018
Tom and Ellen's wedding in mid-August 2018 was the first wedding ever held at The Oakley, and Dave played it. They live in England and planned the whole wedding from there. The ceremony was out on the lawn in front of the building. Bella Uno Photography took the photos, Bair Media Co. made the film, and The Oakley tagged Menzo Media when it shared them.

Genna and Frank at The Oakley, Holly, around 2021
A few years later Dave was back at The Oakley for Genna and Frank. When the venue posted their photos by Kayla Bouren Photography, it credited "DJ: Menzo Media". Their grand entrance is in the photographs above.
Keegan and Derrick at Brookshire Inn & Golf Club, Williamston, August 2016
Dave DJ'd Keegan and Derrick's country-themed wedding at Brookshire Inn & Golf Club on August 20, 2016, under the name DJ Menzfro, which is what he called himself that night.
Lansing-area wedding venues Dave has played
- Brookshire Inn & Golf Club, Williamston: an inn and golf club east of Lansing.
- Everlastings in the Wildwood, Owosso: a greenhouse and garden venue northeast of Lansing.
- The Oakley, Holly: Dave played the first wedding ever held there, and has been back since as the DJ.

What's different about a Lansing wedding?
The MSU calendar
If either of you went to Michigan State, or your guests did, the university calendar matters more than you'd think. Home football Saturdays at Spartan Stadium fill hotels around East Lansing and slow traffic near campus. Commencement in May and move-in weekend in late August do the same. Homecoming brings alumni back in the fall. None of these rule out a date. Just check them before you book a hotel block, and tell guests what to expect.
Spartans, Wolverines and house-divided weddings
Mid-Michigan weddings often bring both fan bases into the same room. Some couples lean into it, with the MSU fight song after the grand entrance or a friendly rivalry moment during toasts. Others want no football anywhere near the night. Either is fine. Tell us which, and we'll keep to it. And if you're both Spartans and want Sparty there, he's been to one of Dave's weddings before: Chris and Makenzie's, in 2022.
A wide circle of small towns
None of the Lansing-area weddings Dave has played were in Lansing itself. They were in Williamston, Owosso and Holly, and couples here also marry in Grand Ledge, Mason, DeWitt and further out, often half an hour or more from where guests are staying. That's the appeal: greenhouses, gardens, golf clubs and barns in small towns. It also means thinking about shuttles and timing, so guests get from the hotel to the ceremony and back without anyone missing your entrance.
Greenhouses, gardens and golf courses
Mid-Michigan venues come in every shape: a greenhouse full of plants, a garden with paths and corners, a tent on the lawn, a clubhouse looking out over a fairway. Each one changes how music works. Glass and hard floors make a room bright and lively, so dinner music should sit low and speeches need to be clear. Gardens and lawns swallow sound, so a ceremony works best when guests are gathered close. Send us photos or a floor plan of your space early, and tell us where the ceremony, cocktails and dancing each happen. We'll plan the music around the room you actually have.
Planning from far away
Tom and Ellen planned their whole Oakley wedding from England. If you've moved away from Michigan and you're coming home to get married, near family or near campus, the music is one of the easier things to plan from a distance. We can choose songs, set the timeline and write down every name for the introductions by phone, video call and email, and you'll know how the day will sound before you fly in.
Guests from both sides of the state
Lansing sits in the middle of the Lower Peninsula, with Detroit-area guests coming from one direction on I-96 and Grand Rapids-area guests from the other. A mid-Michigan wedding is often the fair middle ground. Plan your start time for the people driving furthest.
What can you book for a Lansing wedding?
The wedding DJ and MC is the core booking. Ceremony music, a cocktail-hour set and DJ plus live music are add-ons to it. A live band package can have a DJ too, playing between sets and closing out the night, so you don't have to choose one or the other.
Wedding DJ and MC
This is most of what Dave has played around Lansing: Brookshire, Everlastings and The Oakley. Dinner music people can talk over, then a dance floor that builds, with room for a family Monster Mash if that's who you are. On the microphone: the grand entrance, introductions, toasts, cake, any surprise performances and the last dance, announced clearly and kept on time. See wedding MC and what a wedding MC does.
Live ceremony music
Acoustic guitar and vocals, or piano, for your prelude, processional, signing and recessional. In a greenhouse, a garden or on a golf course lawn, live acoustic music suits the space. We choose the songs together, and we time your processional so the part you love lands as you start down the aisle. See live ceremony music and our acoustic ceremony songs guide.
Cocktail hour
A live acoustic set while you take photos and your guests find a drink and each other. See cocktail hour music.
DJ plus live music
Live drums, guitar, sax or violin, in any combination, over the songs your guests already know, added to your DJ booking. One or two live players give a small-town venue some of the feel of a band without fitting a full one in. See DJ plus live music.
Live wedding band
If you want a full band, see the live wedding band page: a band package can have a DJ playing between sets and closing out the night. Or compare the combinations in our DJ, live band or both guide.
What does a wedding DJ cost around Lansing?
It depends on how many hours you need, whether you add live music, and what your venue needs. We don't publish prices, because every quote is built around your day. Our Michigan wedding DJ cost guide explains what drives the price, and if you check your date we'll send you a quote for yours.

Is Dave a Michigan State grad?
Yes, Dave is an MSU alum. If you're both Spartans, or it's a house divided, tell us while we plan and we'll decide together how much green and white goes into the night.
Can you play our wedding on an MSU home football Saturday?
Yes, if your date is open. The game mostly affects your guests: hotels around East Lansing fill up and traffic near campus slows down. Check the home schedule against your date, book your hotel block early, and give the timeline some room. Check your date to see if it's open.
Has Menzo Weddings played Everlastings in the Wildwood in Owosso?
Yes. Dave DJ'd Heather and Tyler's wedding there in the summer of 2026, and Simply Shalyn Photography credited Menzo Media as the DJ. See Heather and Tyler's wedding and the Everlastings in the Wildwood page.
Has Menzo Weddings played The Oakley in Holly?
Yes, twice that we can show you: Tom and Ellen in August 2018, the first wedding ever held at The Oakley, and Genna and Frank around 2021, where the venue credited Menzo Media as the DJ. See the Oakley page.
Can someone in our family perform during the reception?
Yes. At Heather and Tyler's wedding, Tyler sang Heather a song he'd written for her. If someone wants to sing, play or speak, tell us while we plan, and we'll find the right moment in the night for it and set up the introduction.
Can we get Sparty at our wedding?
Sparty showed up at Chris and Makenzie's wedding in 2022, which Dave played. Appearances are arranged through Michigan State, not through us, so contact the university about it. Once it's confirmed, tell us the time and we'll plan his entrance music and the announcement.
